Boss Battles I had a lot of trouble with my boss battles the first time around, so here's some helpful boss-battle tips if you're stuck and keep dying (as poor Peach did under my control several times)! Boss List Boss P. Piranha - The boss of Ladida Plains, and recognizable as Petey Piranha from Super Mario Sunshine. Position Peach slightly above and to the left or right of him using the two beanstalks provided you, and cry to fill his belly with water. Then stomp on his rather distended and flashing bellybutton. Repeat four times to vanquish him. Good riddance, huh? Special Hint: Stay in the air a lot to avoid Petey's ground wave attacks, and keep yourself full of Vibe with the Vibe Crystals that abound. Hoo - Boss of Hoo's Wood (makes sense). At first, he will swoop low, and that's when you can jump on his head and make him lose one life. After being hit three times, you have to aerially battle him. Fly up above him with Joy and hit him twice more to kill him. Special Hint: Be sure to smack the frequent eggs that Hoo releases to get either coins or Vibe Crystals (the latter of which is vital in this battle)! The eggs will hurt you if you otherwise touch or bump into them, however. King Boo - The king of Shriek Mansion. Light all four lanterns at the four corners of the room with Rage, and keep them lit to scare King Boo into losing life (as much life as ghosts have...). Smash the swingin' chandelier in the middle of the room if you need Vibe Crystals. Repeat the lighting action four more times and King Boo is history. Special Hint: Stay away from King Boo at all times--he will hurt you just by your touching him. Just focus on lighting those lanterns and keeping them lit. Wiggler - The crazy boss of Fury Volcano. You must flip him over and stomp the section of him that flashes blue to make him lose one life. To flip him, stomp on one of the many springs in the boss area, timing your spring's slightly delayed reaction to just when Wiggler wanders over top. Then get on top and stomp that flashing blue segment of his body. Oh, and did I mention there's toxic smoke in the boss arena? Periodically blow it away with Joy's whirlwind (when you've released the A button and are floating down). Special Hint: The avalanche of rocks that Wiggler causes when angry can help you--some contain sorely-needed Vibe Crystals. Just get out of their way when they're falling! And of course, stay out of his way when he's stampeding. Gooper Blooper - We all know and hate the boss of Wavy Beach from plentiful previous Mario games. You must defeat his tentacles first by jumping on them or smacking them, and then you can give his mouth a good smack with Perry. When he spits ink, clean it up with Gloom's tears, or it'll hurt you when you run over it. Special Hint: If Blooper catches hold of you with a tentacle, you're done for--you can't do any moves or Vibes to get away, and he'll just keep draining you of power a half-Heart at a time until you faint. Stay in the air and keep moving so he can't target you--that tactic also makes it easier to defeat each tentacle and stay away from the ink on the ground. Blizzaurus - The boss of Gleam Glacier greets you while fully enclosed in ice. Use your Rage fire and heavy stomp to melt and break through it, which will make him lose life. After hitting him as such three times, he will turn into a little floating Pokemon-lookalike thing, and you will have to jump and keep your raging fire stoked for two more times before he will finally keel over. Special Hint: During the first three rounds, bounce harmlessly on Blizzaurus's back while Raging or trying to stay out of his way--it's the only way you'll be safe from the icicles he commands up from the ground, and from his soul-shattering ice beam that freezes you in place and leaves you open to his ground charge. When he's up in the air in the final rounds, jump while Raging, and hop on the flat tops of the icicles he commands down from the sky to get even closer while you're melting his ice. Kamek - The Magikoopa boss of Giddy Sky, who still commands the same strange geometric-shape magic as he always did. Use Joy's whirlwind to make his head spin around Exorcist-style, which robs him of one life each time you do it. His magic wand floats eerily and shoots the spells at you randomly, so keep moving and be prepared to duck. Make him dizzy five times and you win! Special Hint: Kamek will order his flying minions to come sweeping through the battlefield on occasion. Though they can hurt you, some also carry Vibe Crystals, which are essential in this battle especially. Also, there is a little cloud that floats around during the battle, which you can ride around on and save yourself some Vibe juice by keeping you close enough to Kamek to make his head spin. Red Army Hammer Bro - The "guy before Bowser," if you will--he's the macho Hammer Bro who thinks he and his minions will tromp Peach so soundly that Bowser won't even have to worry with her. Of course, if you remember your Vibes and strike out with Perry, you'll be able to easily prove him wrong. Get rid of his regular Hammer-Bro lackeys first. Then smack him five times with Rage, Joy, or Perry and he's down for the count. Special Hint: For a battle that is so easy it'll make you laugh, stampede through the battlefield while Raging to blip off enemies both on your level and above you. That takes care of all the annoying enemies at once; you can then stride right up to Red Army 'Bro and whack him in the face. Take THAT! Bowser - Ah, the boss of bosses. The final battle of Peach vs. Bowser is in two parts, as follows: Part I: In a pretty small battlefield, Bowser charges back and forth and breaks stone statues of himself apart, as well as launching huge fireballs and hammers at Peach and stomping either her or the ground. Stay in the air and bounce on his head if necessary to stay away from certain attacks. The statues he breaks apart give you Vibe, which is essential for Raging at him--that will ultimately make him lose 1 life. After you've Raged and hit him 5 times, Part I is over. Part II: This is the part that I haven't beaten, so I can't tell you much about it. From what I've played, Bowser becomes literally larger than life and hangs on the side of his castle King-Kong-style, sending more huge hammers and fireballs Peach's way all the while. Spiked balls and Bob-ombs rain from above as well--the Bob-ombs can be used as Vibe fuel in an emergency. However, his attacks can be fairly easily avoided by keeping in constant motion, crouching off to the side, and jumping around. He seems to be impervious to Joy, Rage, and Gloom, and flying up above him and stomping on his head does absolutely nothing. His great paws are also untargetable by attacks. (See why I haven't beaten it yet?) If you find out a way to beat him, let me know! |
